Ever wondered how some people could attract many bees and/or honeys even if they were not good-looking while others get the same effect but at an embarrassing cost (and they still don't realise what's happening). I'm not a big fan of fashion but I do believe in good taste - wearing the right clothes at the right occasion. I believe in the classic look - simple but elegant and embarrassment free Very Happy

Take the platforms for example. Yep, they are head turners because they look awkwardly clumsy. Whoever invented the platforms must have hated ladies with silky legs and shapely ankles because platforms are the number one culprit for accidents and broken toes, feet, ankles etc. Isn't the good old high heels good enough? And I am not referring to the 4 inch ones.

Consider the latest (or not) fashion where pants are worn half way down the butt exposing the underwear and sometimes the bottom cleavage (if you were wearing none). Although you would often get a standing ovation from passing ‘balls’, I would prefer Superman and Wonder Woman as my Fashion Icons. They’re game enough to wear red in the outside and are definitely COOLer than any superhero wannabies.

I never liked men wearing see through or fish net shirts. Unless you have a good ‘bod’ to show, I suggest you cover the two wrinkled brown, black or pink hairy grapes on your bony chest (some have ‘hilly’ chests) and the decade-old unwashed, not forgetting hairy too, navel. This is definitely a throw up.

I know that many crave for attention and I do believe that everyone has their own style but please spare us some thought. Wear the style which looks good on you and not what you THINK you would look COOL-in. Laughing

What are the head turners or throw ups you have come across?

Belly dancing sure turns heads on!

Just curious, can you balance a long parang on your head?

I can balance a more refined weapon than ' parang'. I can balance a sword on my head. Please, no Samurai swords Wink

hey desertspr, nicely written.

i often like to sit around malls looking at how people dress or act. it is REALLY amusing, esp. when it is like what you mentioned. it is either a "wow" or a "yuck". seldom we find "so-so", cos those are the one dresses so boringly that we hardly notice them.

i do agree with the concept of dress down-to-earth and comfy, not necessarily fashionable. what i encountered are people who dress for the wrong reason, i.e.:

[1] winter cloth for tropical weather. the mink of all!

[2] fish-net or see-thru that basically nothing but a disappointing "free show"

[3] low-cut which is worn too low and expose the unneccesary

[4] mini-skirt which is worn too high and expose cellulite thighs!

but regardless of dress sense, i can still bear with them. what i can't really stand is people with terrible body odour. it is absolutely unforgivable!

Thank you. and I agree -odours are definitely a 'wake up', they 'sting'. It always makes me curious why these people would not know that they are polluting and/or damaging our sense of smell. It's choking!

Imagine getting stuck in a lift with these stinkers. Phew! Embarassed

Actually Desertspr, I wholly agree with you. Having lived in SE Asia for over 30 years but travelling a lot during the course of my work, the one thing I noticed about the UK was the smell of the unwashed in the tube trains. Mind you, that pales into insignificance when compared to Nigeria. One can actually smell that country and its occupants as the plane depressurises at 10,000 feet! In fact, if Heavens forbid, I was obliged to take a local flight with a local operator, I spent the whole flight breathing through my mouth. West Africa certainly has a uniqueness about it.................... Rolling Eyes

Would deodorant sprays work in those countries? How do one get immune to them?

plain old soap and water a few times a day would work wonders.

Some of the Arab countris have strange views. Indonesian maids are frequently prvented from having a mandi at least twice a day. Some Arabs feel that this is a "come on" for attracting a man. Hence the prevalence of perfumes in the Middle East. I stress not all see things in this light. I have many good arab friends that laugh at some of the antics of their countrymen.
