..... yes, Dory, I moved out here in December last year on a long-term visa. Love the sunlight but it gets a bit murky in KL, probably due to the heavy traffic ... there's been an EcoIdeas balloon hovering overhead for the past few days, I think probably checking out the pollution !
Anyway, I do owe jcleo an email so I will tell her to expect a contact from you ... I'm sure she'll be delighted (someone from good ol' Labuan of course). I believe she said she will be moving to the Toronto area however so she will be some distance away from you initially Will send her email to you by PM later .... |

where is your point of stay...or just wherever you want to be at? I myself can't
wait to retire back there as well...now that you are there, I will need pointers from you for sure...that's what my plans are...around 8 to 9 years now |

.... yes, I know you've been talking about it for 2 years or more, Dory
But as for "pointers", don't forget I'm here under the mm2h program and that procedures will be different for you. Do you still have your Malaysian ID ?

.... near enough
mm2h = M'sia My Second HomeBut for you I would have thought that your M'sian passport would be enough .... though I think I heard a while back that people had to start renewing their ID cards every year. Is this true ? |

I don't know why they never took mine, and I actually still have my passport
too...it's with the card...and never have been renewed since I received my canadian passport and citizen card...having talked to the malaysian consulate in vancouver, she told me not to get rid of my card and passport, keep it and see what they will do when I do go home, since I was a minor when I came, she thinks that was probably why they never took my passport and card in the first place...she thinks that yes, I have a very good chance in getting both back...that's the thing, I don't know where I stand...will I be considered a foreigner?? or still as a patriat...?? oh well, the consulate doesn't know...haha |

Hey, Dory …. I think the best thing you can do is to take a holiday in Labuan some time and go see the Labuan Immigration people. They have an office at Financial Park and when I went to see them last time I was there they were really helpful and seemed to know all the answers. Better than writing to head office in KL and then waiting ages for some vague sort of reply.
As regards mm2h, there are pages of agent names on Google but I picked this one out cos it gives a good general idea about what’s involved …. but I don’t think you should go down that road to be honest. I think you should get your full Malaysian citizenship back with none of the restrictions/conditions that go with mm2h. Guests cannot see links in the messages. ..... off the top of my head, things like - not allowed to work ! and - must open a bank account with so much in it to show you can support yourself (although I don't think this would be a problem for you :-) )

I'm still here watching the conversation and waiting for the admin to tell us we are off topic. Maybe we should start a new topic about MM2MH. I am interested in the proceedure as well.
