....... so who do you think's gonna win the English Premier League this season ?
Arsenal are back in contention this year with some talented youngsters in their ranks but Man. Utd. are at least two years ahead of them in their team building. Man. City are still on the crest of a wave with former England manager Sven Goran Eriksson continuing to inspire. Chelsea are beginning to find their feet again after the departure of Jose Mourinho. ..... having no game over the weekend, Arsenal momentarily surrendered the top spot to Manchester United, following the Red Devils' 2-0 win over Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, but The Gunners came roaring back on Monday night with an impressive 3-1 at Reading to regain their lead.
Manchester City struggled to cling onto third place with a goalless draw at Portsmouth in a game that could have gone either way, whilst Chelsea showed that they are still not quite back "in the groove" when they could only manage a home draw against the other half of the city of Liverpool (Everton) who went into this game on the back of five victories in all competitions and looked really comfortable. Arsenal were pinned back by lowly Wigan Athletic until the 83rd minute when two quick goals saw the Gunners retain the top spot in the EPL.
Second-placed Manchester United were terrible in defeat going down 1-0 at struggling Bolton Wanderers. With Ronaldo being rested and Rooney injured, United played so badly one must now wonder if they have sufficient strength in depth to seriously challenge leaders Arsenal. Manchester City also struggled to maintain their 100% home record eventually running out 2-1 winners over Reading with the deciding goal coming in the dying seconds of the game, whilst Chelsea also made hard work of their 2-0 win at bottom of the League Derby County. Liverpool at last seem to be coming into some form with their 3-0 win at Newcastle United and when they are finally dismissed from the Champions League, they could to be a good bet (along with in-form neighbours Everton, who demolished Sunderland 7-1) to put in a serious challenge for one of the top four positions.
