Just got back from Old Trafford after watching Manchester United drop two valuable championship points in their head-to-head with The Magpies from Newcastle.

A gritty game, the first half being played 75% in midfield, and with Newcastle adding quite a bit of red to their black and white strips due to some uncompromising tackles by the Manchester defence. The game opened out more in the second half and Man. U. brought on Forlan, who was always a danger but didn't see much of the ball. Scholes too had only three shots at goal, only one on target.

Dyer was the pick of the Newcastle forwards hitting the bar once with a well-timed header whilst, at the other end, Silvestre found the back of the net only to have it disallowed for Ruud van Nistelrooy being offside. Bernard (no relation) was also prominent for the Magpies and Silvestre had to chop him down twice when being in promising positions.

Newcastle were ahead 3-1 on corners and Manchester United 2-0 on yellow cards.

What odds now on United retaining the championship ? Watching Arsenal yesterday, 4-1 winners against Middlesbrough at Highbury, they look good.

I missed Hull City's result yesterday, by the way. Can you help me, Chyun ?

Hello Chyun,

No, I only play fantasy football when I go to see Hull City ! They are a fantasy all on their own.

Oh, dear ! You say you don't look for results in the 1st. Division or the 2nd. Division ? That hurts ! Hull City are in the Third Division !! Found out last night that they won 1-0 at Darlington ..... and are now top of their section. So watch out, Manchester United ..... won't be long before you're saying
Next up......MU vs. Hull City !!

By the way, do you get to see any Premier League football on your tv, Chyun ?

Nice to hear from you

PS. Next up......Hull City vs. Oxford United Big Grin

Hi RedDevil,

Now I know why they call you RedDevil ! You're an MU supporter, aren't you ? Or (surely not) Liverpool !!

Yes, I do get to see The Reds once in a while, but it's a 220-miles round-trip so I don't go too often ! ..... but Manchester University ? - no, but my niece does. She's training to be a GP so that if I get sick, I'll be OK. She's named after your local town, by the way ..... Victoria !

Nice to hear from you, RedDevil

Local team, Scarborough Town, who do not play in the Football League at all - (even in the Third Division !!) - are drawn to play Chelsea in the 4th round of the FA Cup. If they win, they could get Manchester United in the fifth round !!

Watch this space !!! Tongue

PS They play in red shirts.

Scarborough Town 0, Chelsea 1 ......... we wuz robbed !!

Back to the bread-and-butter league again !

So, having got over that difficult hurdle, are Chelsea a good bet for the FA Cup, Chyun ? Or will Arsenal and Manchester United stand in their way ? Or will Arsenal take both the Cup and the Premiership ?? Or do you think maybe Manchester United might have something to say about that ?

Next up - Boston United Pilgrims vs. Hull City Tigers - if they can get the six inches of snow cleared from the pitch in time for the kick-off !!

Manchester United vs Southampton......3-2......

Next up......Manchester United vs Everton......

Personally......I think Chelsea has some chances in FA Cup......However......They still have to get through Manchester United and Arsenal......I like Manchester United to win the cup but you have to face the truth......Arsenal is still a strong team right now.......And they are tough to beat......

For the Premier League......It is still a long way to go......Based on the current form......Arsenal is very strong and Manchester United can only catch up with them if Arsenal keep on drawing or being beaten by other teams......

But......After all have been said and done......Hopefully that Manchester United would emerge as the CHAMPION when the league comes to an end......

Hey, Chyun, howzitgoin ?

Everything you say is true. Personally, I favour Arsenal. Not surprisingly, with a French manager and French players, they play a French-style game which is more open and attractive, relying on quick strikes from midfield.

But Alex Ferguson has just played a master stroke in the signing of Saha. He is not in the same class as Henry and some other Arsenal players, but his introduction into the MU line-up will cause a lot of problems for opponents in weeks to come. Opposing defences, being unfamiliar with the new partnership of Scholes and Saha, will not know for some time how to deal with this new threat and I predict that Saha will score, and create, a number of important goals before they manage to sass him out.

As for the FA Cup, that's a different ball-game. Cup-tie football is different ! Almost any team left in the competition has a chance of making it to the Final, especially if MU and Arsenal are drawn against each other before then.

Sorry I can't get to report on the match between Boston United Pilgrims and Hull City Tigers. They didn't get the pitch cleared - and they lost the referee in a snow drift !

PS What did I say about cup-ties ? How about this, then ?

Manchester City (one win in 18 matches) 3-0 down at Tottenham, man sent off at half-time - and their ten men score four times in the second half to earn a fifth-round tie against who ? Manchester United !!

It is indeed a classic......Manchester City VS Tottenham......Manage to win 4-3 after 3-0 down......

They would face Manchester United in one of those derby games again......Personally......Hopefully......Manchester United would be the one to win this derby based on current form and the addition of Saha......

Next round in the FA Cup......Arsenal VS "Star-studded" Chelsea......Who would win......?I think it is an interesting encounter between both teams......Arsenal with the addition of Reyes and Chelsea with the aquisition of Scott Parker......

This should be the final of FA Cup but not a fifth-round tie.......But I really like Chelsea to beat Arsenal so that Arsenal would not have the chance to gain "head-trick" of FA Cup in the last three years......
